FC "Servett": details about the start of the 2024-2025 season

As a long-time fan of Servette FC, I have to say that the start of the 2024-2025 season has left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, there were encouraging moments, but on the other, there were several signs of concern, mostly due to major changes in the team.

One of the changes that struck me the most was the departure of René Weiler. It was a surprise to see him leave his coaching role to take the sporting reins of the club. With the arrival of Thomas Haberli, I had high hopes, especially for his defensive philosophy and his tactical toughness. However, I noticed that the team struggled to adapt to these new ideas, resulting in inconsistent performance.

What bothers the most

The biggest concern for me is the 2024 summer transfer window. Although the club managed to bring in interesting players like Julian von Moos, who proved himself in St. Gallen, and Sofian Buzamukh to strengthen the defense, I believe that these new recruits are not complete. filled the gaps in the team. For example, in attack, while the loan of young talents such as Victorie Beniangba and the arrival of Ousmane Mamadou Simbakoli have been notable moves, I fear it will not be enough. The lack of additional reinforcements, especially on defense, remains a source of concern for me.

This is clearly reflected in the results of the team. In five matches of the championship, "Servett" conceded 13 goals, which clearly indicates that the defense is not yet up to par. This weakness also showed during the qualification for European competitions, where the team struggled to compete in difficult moments against Braga, even in the Swiss Cup, against a team of a much lower caliber than Signal FC Bernex-Confignon, I noted the worrisome defensive shortcomings. Conclusion

In short, while I believe in Servette FC's potential to have a good season, I can't help but think that the lack of depth in the squad, especially in defense, could pose a problem in the long run. Rene Weiler's departure, while well managed organizationally, left a void that the summer transfer window did not fully fill. These shortcomings have already made themselves felt and may hamper the club's ambitions this season.
However, I remember that the transfer window has not yet ended, and I hope that the club will use the remaining days optimally.
