The movie "Moulin Rouge" (2001) is a revival of the musical genre from Australian theater and film director Baz Luhrmann. Cameraman Donald McAlpin showcases superb shots, and they are aptly complemented by special effects that make "Moulin Rouge" actually beautiful. The metaphorical scene of the dance above the clouds will later be cited in the 2016 film "La La Land." Satine and Christian's story is naive, romantic and tragic. Baz Luhrmann didn't just make a melodrama. The director has created a quality dramatic film production, one of the best, unusual and interesting musicals in cinema.
